For Etsy sellers
If you only sell on Etsy, Reckonmark still pays for itself. The scan loop reads your live listings once a day against Etsy platform policy, EU GPSR for cross-border orders, and California Prop 65 — the three places an Etsy-only shop takes the same exposure as a multi-channel store. When something fails, you get an email with the failing line and a suggested rewrite tuned to that snippet.
Three risks
Reckonmark is built around per-listing coverage, not per-storefront count. These are the three surfaces the daily scan targets that affect a solo Etsy shop exactly the same as a multi-channel seller.
Etsy revises the Handmade rule, the Handmade-claims wording, and the prohibited-items list on a rolling basis. A listing that was clean last quarter can be paused next month.
Etsy ships globally — and the EU General Product Safety Regulation applies to every parcel entering the EU. A solo Etsy shop needs a manufacturer label, a responsible-person address, and a CE/UKCA trail per SKU family.
If a single California buyer orders your combustion, food-contact, or metal-jewelry SKU, Prop 65 exposure kicks in on that order. The traditional "we don't ship to California" workaround no longer covers marketplace buyers routed through any US address.
Sample alerts
Examples taken from the kinds of Etsy-only listings the scan surfaces most often — the failing snippet, the rule it tripped, and the suggested rewrite tuned to that snippet.
"Handmade in Tuscany using locally sourced olive wood from our family grove in Provence."
Etsy's "Handmade" rule requires items to be designed and made by the seller, and "region of origin" claims like Tuscany / Provence are spot-checked. Etsy tightened this language in their 2025 seller policy update, and listings that blend multiple regions are the first to be paused.
Suggested rewrite
"Handmade by us from olive wood sourced from small European mills. We photograph every batch — ask if you want a picture of the exact piece before ordering."
Paste-ready — tuned to the failing snippet above.
"Barbecue smoking chips — apple, hickory, mesquite. Eight ounces of wood chips for your smoker."
Wood-combustion products expose California buyers to chemicals listed under Proposition 65 (including wood smoke and PAH). Listings shipping into California need the standard warning on the listing page before checkout concludes — Etsy enforces this on a per-order basis, not a per-seller basis.
Suggested rewrite
"WARNING: This product, when used as intended, exposes you to chemicals including wood smoke and soot, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov."
Paste-ready — tuned to the failing snippet above.
